BMBS Finding and using evidence for clinical practice: Introduction

Online tutorial

How to use this tutorial

This tutorial will introduce you to the skills and techniques you can use to effectively search for evidence for research and clinical practice. These skills will be assessed in your SSU reports, and help to inform clinical decision making later on in the programme.

Work through each section using the menu tabs above, or the next button at the bottom of the page.

There will be activities for you to complete as you go so that you can learn by doing and self test your learning.

By completing this tutorial you will be able to:

  • Define evidence-based practice
  • Break down a scenario or topic so that you can search for information effectively
  • Identify appropriate keywords to find relevant information
  • Use search techniques to help you get better search results

In the scheduled hands-on workshop, you'll have the opportunity to apply your learning to help identify evidence for a specific scenario.
