Book reviews: a finding guide

Online guidance on searching for book reviews

Finding reviews in newspapers

You can run a search in Proquest One Literature which will search across many newspapers and publications such as The Guardian, The Observer, Times Literary Supplement, New York Times, Sunday Times and many others.See the instructions in the databases section for more information.

If you'd like to search in a particular publication you can do that by searching first for the title of the publication in Library Search.

Guardian Books

You can view the latest book reviews on the Guardian website.

To search past book reviews, you can use Library Search. Enter Guardian as title or follow the Guardian Books link above. Under the View Online section, select the Proquest link which corresponds to the time period your review or book being reviewed was published, e.g.:

Go to the Advanced Search:

From the Document Type options below the search bar, select Review:

Click Search. You'll see all items classified as reviews from the Guardian. You can refine your search by adding keywords such as title and author, or limit by publication date.
