Library overdue fines

The library charges overdue fines for overdue recalled items only

  • the charge is 0.50p per week day

All library fines can be paid using our online payment service.   The Library is a shared resource.   Library fines are meant to encourage the return of in demand material.

Replacement charges

Replacement charges may be added to your library account if you lose an item or fail to return an overdue item. View replacement charges in your online library account.  Pay replacement charge online.

Or, in some situations, replacement charges may be cleared, for example:

  • When very overdue book(s) are returned
  • When an overdue lost book(s) is found and returned to the library
  • When a good quality replacement copy is provided and approved for addition to the library collection.  Please note: Refunds cannot be processed when replacement copies are provided.

Pay Library Fines Online

You can pay library fines online. Please use the library online payment site (and not the student online payment site).

Blocked library account

Your library account may be blocked from borrowing, renewing and requesting if

  • You have fines over £10
  • You have an overdue recalled book
  • Some of your loans are very overdue (e.g. more than 2 weeks)
  • Your library account is expired (e.g. the expiry date has past)
