Law Testimony and Trauma Library Research Guide

Library Search

The Library Search services enables you to search across the print and online library collections for books, chapters, articles, journals & more.

It is useful for this project in gathering full text materials for

  1. background information around your chosen topic and also
  2. scholarly commentary on injustices, legal changes or reforms related to the incident you are analysing.

For example you can run this search like race AND discrimination AND ("criminal justice" OR"legal system")  or polic* AND discrimination for background reading around these oppression related issues

Once you have chosen a particular topic to research you can also search for commentary on that, such as

"Sarah Everard" or "George Floyd"

Note the keywords, link words and search techniques that have been used in the sample searches shown above.  Refer to the Online Search Tips section for guidance on using these to enhance your online searching.

You will need to use the other research tools such as the databases, tailored internet searching and the news and audiovisual services to trace all the different sorts of information you need for your project.   For example, you will not find things like primary legal materials, legal proceedings and transcripts, witness or tribunal accounts via Library Search.
