UoE Libraries: Planning for reopening

Information on plans to reopen the libraries following Covid-19 closure

Where is the library in our planning?

Reopening library buildings

All our Library buildings remain closed. We know how much the libraries mean to all of us. We know the unavoidable library closure, the disruption to service and the uncertainty about the timeframe for reopening is unsettling.

A phased reopening is underway - please see below useful details- library staff are working closely with both the Estates team and the Health & Safety team.  Together, we are developing protocols for new ways of working and operating our service. The university is committed to safe working practices for our library staff and safe operating procedures for all library users. Our planning is complex and subject to change depending on government safety advice and the changing health and environmental conditions.

We look forward to welcoming you back, when it is safe to do so. Thank you for your patience and support while we undertake this important and extensive exercise. We will continue to do our very best to support you and connect you with the materials you need.

We continue to build our online collections alongside our reopening plans. These digital collections provide key education and research resources for all users, whether on campus or working and studying remotely.  Enhancing our digital collections ensures the resilience of library services for all our users whatever the circumstance in the local environment.
