Visiting university libraries

Planning your visit

Date - The Forum Library is very busy during term-time.  It may be difficult to find a seat.  It may be quieter during the vacation periods.

Time - Visitors may use the library Monday-Friday 08:00 - 20:00 & Saturday-Sunday 10:00 - 18:00.  Opening hours.

Before your visit - Search the library catalogue online. 

  • Make a note of the location (e.g. Forum Library or Old Library)
  • Make a note of the format (e.g. print book, journal or e-book)
  • If material is held in print format, you can consult this in the library
  • If material is held in digital (electronic) format, you will have to check whether you may access this at our walk in access computer.  Not all digital format material is available to visitors. 

If you have any questions, please contact us before your visit. 

St Luke's campus library is not currently open to visitors.  Please contact the library to discuss access.

The Old Library is open to visitors, and we recommend that you contact the library prior to visiting.

Before visiting, search the university library resources online.  If you have any questions about material located in the Old Library, please get in touch to discuss before you visit.

Visitors may:

  • use the library between Mon - Fri 08:00 - 20:00 & Sat - Sun 10:00 - 18:00
  • consult print collection, as library use only

Please note that support for using the Old Library is available from the Forum Library‚Äč.  We are happy to accompany visitors to the Old LIbrary. 

Visitor photocopying

Visitor may pay for a visitors copy account of either £1, £5 or £10.  Please have the correct amount in cash.  No change is given. 

This account may only be used to copy library material; will be valid until the balance reaches zero and cannot be re-credited or re-used; will only be valid for the current academic year and any unused credit cannot be refunded.
