"Walk-in access" to library electronic resources

"Walk-in access" to library electronic resources refers to a computer in the library which visitors may use to access electronic library resources, such as e-journal articles.

  • This service is available in the Forum Library between 09:00 - 18:00 Mon-Fri and 10:00-18:00 Sat-Sun
  • This service is available at Penryn Campus Library during staffed hours, Mon-Fri 09:00-21:00 and weekends 10:00-18.00.
  • Users must sign in and register for walk-in access each time they wish to use the service and provide ID ideally including photo and proof of address. You will be asked to complete a registration form. By registering as a walk-in user, you indicate an agreement to comply with the acceptable use policy.
  • 'Walk-in access' allows members of the public and members of other Institutions visiting the library premises to access a range of online resources.  The range available is dictated by publishers licenses. These resources must not be used for commercial or business purposes.

Before you visit

Search the Library Catalogue and make a list of the online resources that you would like to access.  Please note that some electronic resources (i.e. Financial Times, i-Law, Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, some e-books or some e-journals) will not be available using this service because of license restrictions.

Please email library@exeter.ac.uk with any specific resource enquiries before your visit.

When you visit

  • Ask for walk-in access at the Forum library desk
  • Provide one form of ID to obtain login / e-resource authentication
  • Bring a USB memory stick (flash drive) to save files
  • Copyright law applies to e-resources
  • Use the resources responsibly and respect copyright and licensing

Walk-in user online resources

We try to make as much of our content as we can available to walk-in users.  Walk-in users can search for content on our catalogue.  Some content will not be available due to licensing agreements.  Also, Walk-in users may find content on the catalogue that will not let them authenticate as walk-in users.  To get round this there is a list of links that walk-in users can use from the Walk-in access PCs.
