Margaret Littlewood papers relating to Ford Manor (EUL MS 13)

Margaret Littlewood was the wife of Waldemar Molnicke who established a school of music and physical therapy at Ford Manor, Devon. Margaret was for two years a pupil at the school, 1957-1959. A major part of this collection is her reminiscences of her time there.

Twelve large notebooks are filled with a lively account of Margaret Littlewood's time at Ford Manor, with additions in a fair copy version accounting for the background of the school in the words of Waldemar Molnicke. The remainder of the papers are a manuscript translation of the treatise by Johann Joachim Quantz (1687-1773) on playing the flute, 'Versuch einer Anweisung die Floter Traversiere zu Speielen' (Berlin, 1789), by Miss Marjorie Ackland of Bideford, Devon, together with a German transcription of the copy in the British Library. There are a couple of extraneous letters also in the collection.
