Requesting

Our request system helps manage material which is in demand (e.g. needed by more than one person at the same time).  If you need a book and all copies are out on loan (e.g. have a date dd-mm-yyyy in the status filed) you'll need to:

  1. Use the Request it button
  2. Select your pick up location (Penryn, St Luke's Forum)
  3. Wait until a copy is returned (this may be quick (e.g. 2 days) or it may be longer (e.g. 7 days or more)
  4. Check for a confirmation email letting you know the book is ready to collect
  5. Collect from reservations shelves &
  6. Borrow on the self service machines - You must borrow books after collecting them from reservation shelf.
  7. You'll have 3 days to collect your reservation, uncollected reservations move on to next person in the queue or are re-shelved.

When a book you're borrowing is recalled

If someone needs a book which you have out on loan, it can be recalled and the due date shortened.  You will always get to keep a book for at least 7 days from the date it was borrowed.  Books can be recalled anytime, including during vacations.  Please, check your emails every week!

If any of your books are recalled:

  • You should get an email with a new due date
  • You cannot renew a recalled book
  • The book must be returned by the new shortened due date
  • You can return by post to Exeter using this form.
  • You can return at your own expense to Penryn Campus Library, Treliever Road, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 9FE

Recall helps manage material that is high demand.  Recall allows fair access to material for everyone.   If you have any questions about recall, please contact us.
