Borrow, Renew, Request

Our request system helps manage material which is in demand (e.g. needed by more than one person at the same time) or held at another campus library. 

NB Requests can be made by Staff, Students and Associates only.

If you want to request a book that is already on loan or at another University of Exeter library you'll need to:

1. Log in to https://librarysearch.exeter.ac.uk
2. Search for the title you need.  Click on the title.
3. Use the Request button
4. Your pick up location will be displayed (Forum, St Luke's)
5. Wait until a copy is returned (this may be quick (e.g. 2 days) or it may be longer (e.g. 7 days or more)
6. Check for a confirmation email letting you know the book is ready to collect
7. Collect from reservations shelves
8. Borrow on the self service machines - You must borrow books after collecting them from reservation shelf.
9. You'll have 5 days to collect your reservation, uncollected reservations move on to next person in the queue or are re-shelved.

If someone needs a book which you have out on loan, it can be recalled with the due date shortened and further auto-renewals will not be possible.  You will always get to keep a book for at least 7 days from the date it was borrowed.  Books can be recalled anytime, including during vacations.  Please, check your emails every week!

If any of your books are recalled:

• You should get an email with a new due date
• Your recalled book will no longer auto-renew
• The book should be returned within seven days of being notified of the recall
• You can return by post to Exeter using this form.
• You can return at your own expense to Penryn Campus Library, Treliever Road, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 9FE
