What is the PKSB For?

The Professional Knowledge and Skills Base can be used in a number of ways:

  • It outlines the broad spectrum of knowledge and skills that are required across the profession
  • It can be used as a self-assessment tool for you to think about your personal and professional development.
  • It can be used to demonstrate your unique skillset to employers
  • It is a framework which can be used for skills analysis, staff training and development plans and to develop ideas for training courses and Continuing Professional Development opportunities
  • It will be used as part of CILIP’s Framework of Qualifications and will be used to assess which academic and vocational qualifications are directly relevant to the profession
