What is the PKSB For?

The Professional Knowledge and Skills Base can be used in a number of ways:

It outlines the broad spectrum of knowledge and skills that are required across the profession
It can be used as a self-assessment tool for you to think about your personal and professional development.
It can be used to demonstrate your unique skillset to employers
It is a framework which can be used for skills analysis, staff training and development plans and to develop ideas for training courses and Continuing Professional Development opportunities
It will be used as part of CILIP’s Framework of Qualifications and will be used to assess which academic and vocational qualifications are directly relevant to the profession
